Some information that might clarify a few things
I am a fictional character.
The implicit promise that the author of a blog, or a journal, or a web-diary makes is that what you are reading it true. Subjectively true, generally, but true nonetheless. My author is building this site on the opposite premise: everything that you read here is fiction.
I am fiction.
This shouldn't bother you. After all, you know full well that the man who wrote Moby Dick wasn't generally called Ishmael, that Tom was not the author of The Great Gatsby, and that no one named Corwin, Prince or otherwise, really told The Chronicles of Amber. First-person fictional narratives have been around for quite some time.
Ah, you say, but there is a difference. All of those examples that you mentioned, they're telling their stories within the confines of the book. There is no "outside the book" for them; by contrast, I refer to events and offerings of the real world on a fairly frequent basis.
So, then, a clarification: I am a fictionalised version of my author. We share many things: a name, interests, a website. But my author's friends have names; mine only have epithets or pseudonyms. My author lives in a real place; I live only in these words, and to think that when I talk about "my apartment" I'm discussing something real is sheer sophistry.
And so, the obvious disclaimer: the opinions expressed in this website do not necessarily reflect the opinions held by anyone, anywhere. Just me, and I'm a fiction.
So that being said...
My name is Doctor Matt. I am (in no particular order) a mathematician, a musician, a teacher, a web developper, a card player, and a theatre-type. I also play around with photography, fencing, and a few other random hobbies.
I currently live in an Industrial Hub in the American Midwest, teaching math at an Urban Commuter Campus there. I'm Canadian originally.
